Job Description

The Waiver Unit Manager reports to the PersonLink Program Director and is responsible for assuring that the program is in compliance with all waiver requirements. The Waiver Unit Manager serves as the expert regarding all waiver regulations and procedures and oversees the timely and efficient processing of waiver documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as point person and subject expert for all Adult Autism, Person/Family and Consolidated Waivers
  • Provide training and technical assistance to program staff on waiver regulations, requirements and paperwork
  • Ensure that waiver applications are processed with a high quality of completion and forwarded to AE upon request.
  • Ensure that re-determination packets are processed with a high quality of completion and forwarded to AE within 2 days from SC submission
  • Ensures that physicals are processed timely with a high quality of completion and forwarded to AE within 2 days from SC submission
  • Work in conjunction with the Unit Manager (s) and Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager to ensure program is in compliance with waiver requirements for individuals on the Autism, Consolidated and Person/Family Centered waivers
  • Develop and update systems ( HCSIS, Social Service MIS and other as appropriate) to ensure tracking of documents processed by the Waiver Unit to IDS and monitors IDS approval process
  • Communicate with IDS to update, clarify and track information related to the waiver documentation (waiver packets, re-determinations and physicals) for individuals serves by PersonLink
  • Acknowledge and respond as appropriate to IDS or ODP inquires within 24 hrs.
  • Participate in meetings as part of PersonLink management team
  • Complete paperwork and reports as requested
  • Attend ODP, IDS waiver and other relevant trainings and meetings
  • Oversee PUNS Processing and ensure distribution to families within 5 days of meeting
  • Track and oversee the processing of IM4Q pre-surveys within AE established time frame
  • Other duties as assigned

Performance Criteria:

  • Process waiver applications to IDS within 2 days of request from the AE.
  • Process recertification’s to IDS within in 2 days of SC submission to Waiver unit and 30 days before expiration and documented in tracking report/ SSMIS
  • Process redeterminations to IDS within 2 days of SC submission to Waiver Unit and 30 days before expiration and documented in tracking report/SSMIS
  • Process physicals within 2 days of SC submission to Waiver Unit and 30 days before expiration of previous physical
  • Oversee the Distribution PUNS to family if SC submits 5 days or more from meeting date, if less than 5 days log and forward to records room for distribution.

Experience:

  • Four years experience working with families and/or individuals within the Intellectual Disability System. Two years experience in supervision or management. Experience in education and training desired.

Education Requirement:

  • The Waiver Unit Manager must have a Bachelor’s degree including 12 credits in Sociology, Social Welfare, Social Work, Anthropology, Psychology, Counseling, Gerontology, Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Human Behavior, Human Services, Human Development, Special Education, Economics, Geography, History, and Political Science.
