Job Description

Responsible for the completion of comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations and re-evaluations of persons participating in BHRS/STS to determine medically necessary behavioral health services. Partner with BHRS and STS Clinical Coordinator to provide consultation with clinical staff and coordinate client care and direction of services. 

This is a contact (1099) position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete professionally written evaluations of clients, according to prescribed format, that includes soundly formulated medically necessary recommendations for services.
  • Recommendations should be adequately justified with complete documentation.
  • Written evaluations must be completed within 2 weeks face-to-face assessment according to CBH/DPW regulations.
  • Accurately determine diagnosis, level of care and/or appropriateness for PHMC programs.
  • Provide alternative recommendations to families when appropriate.
  • Integrate clinical formulation for treatment planning purposes. Collaborate with current treatment staff when conducting a reauthorization evaluation.
  • Respond to questions and requests for additional information from CBH/MBH as needed in order to solidify medical necessity for prescribed services.
  • Write addendums for mental health services for the summer months, school start-up, or when prescribed services require change.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clinical supervision regularly to the treatment team as determined by Program Directors of BHRS and STS and as deemed necessary for the programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Coordinator and Case Coordinator to insure that all paperwork and program regulations are satisfied.
  • Provide training to field staff as determined by Program Directors of BHRS and STS and as deemed necessary for the program.
  • Collaborate with Wordsworth psychiatrist when indicated.
  • Work with client families and other professionals in a respectful, supportive, and collaborative manner to establish a therapeutic working relationship to explain, begin, and continue the treatment process, and to highlight and explain available services.
  • Adhere to CAASP principles.
  • Participate in training/supervision programs as part of agency professional development initiative.      
  • Participate on Medical Committee as requested by Executive Director and/or Medical Director.
  • Attend clinical operations meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies and procedures including confidentiality and reporting suspected child abuse.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training programs as required.

   Contributing to the Team

  • Participates in regular meetings with staff to ensure priorities are clear, coordination is good and communications are open. Develops additional methods for ongoing effective communication.
  • Cooperates and communicates as a multi-discipline staff team member through formal meetings, informal consultations and committee participation. 
  • Models traits of a responsible team member, executing job responsibilities, open communication, good follow through; supports team members to do the same.
  • Responds promptly to the concerns and interests of the clients, parents, guardians, funding entities and other PHMC staff. 

Trauma Informed Behavior

  • Demonstrates commitment to being trauma informed and maintaining a therapeutic environment and community that promotes safety and nonviolence as the basis for all we do with clients and staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of trauma informed practices, including emotional intelligence, effective communication, understanding of impact of trauma on development, strengths based and person-centered practice, resilience focus and commitment to growth and change.

Administrative Activities

  • Ensures compliance with all PHMC’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and acting as a mandated reporter in accordance with the law, policies, and procedures.
  • Implements all documentation requirements, reports are complete, thorough, timely, and follow prescribed format. Ensures staffs do the same.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to complete clinically sound comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations/reevaluations.
  • Familiarity with BHRS services as well as other children’s behavioral health services within the continuum of services in Philadelphia.
  • Proficiency in the conceptualization of and interventions with childhood disorders including Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, etc.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Strong clinical skills, including experience utilizing (and supervising others utilizing) behavior modification, cognitive/behavioral therapy, and family systems theory.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience supervising and developing diverse staff populations
  • Crisis intervention training and experience
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft office applications including data management skills.
  • Experience interacting with collateral agencies/systems, including educational, community, psychiatric and psychological systems
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft office applications including data management skills.

 EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of post-doctoral experience in children’s mental health services.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to bachelor’s and master’s level staff
  • Experience working in CBH funded BHRS program strongly preferred.
  • Experience preferred in working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and familiar with completing evaluations in an EHR system

EDUCATION REQUIRMENT:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology; must be licensed as a psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Valid Child Abuse, PA Criminal Record Check, FBI Clearance and Medical Clearance as well as any other clearances required by contract or agency policy.
