Job Description

To provide therapeutic services for participants in an IOP substance abuse program for women by fulfilling the responsibilities as listed below.


  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions and maintain caseload at required level
  • Develop and implement structured, time-limited groups
  • Work to ensure maximum client show rate
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
  • Develop and update treatment plans with input from treatment team as indicated by program policies and procedures
  • Participated in weekly clinical case conference
  • Provide individualized ABE/GED instruction to help clients prepare for the GED examination
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
  • Establish linkages with other community resources to facilitate client referrals and coordination
  • Meet with clients to perform a comprehensive educational/vocational assessment and develop goals
  • Work with treatment team to develop continuing care plans one month prior to discharge
  • Complete discharge summary within 5 days of discharge
  • Establish linkages with community resources to facilitate client placements in educational programs
  • Working with the early childhood staff to develop children’s educational curriculum
  • Maintain a continuous record of all client contacts including progress towards accomplishing goals
  • Maintaining client charts that meet all state, local, and program guidelines
  • Participate in at least 25 hours of training each training year
  • Participate in weekly supervision
  • Complete court reports and attend court, if applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to function in a professional manner, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with other staff at all times
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently as well as collaboratively with interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to establish professional limit setting
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all state, city, and program policies and procedures
  • Sensitivity to issues of diversity
  • Experience in ged and life skills instruction
  • experience in job coaching and instruction
  • experience working in behavioral health, with particular focus on women


  • Minimum of two years clinical experience conducting individual, family and group therapy
  • Experience in substance abuse treatment with an adult population

Education Requirement:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field, preferred
