IHI is a comprehensive, trauma informed substance abuse program for women recovering from substance use and trauma related psychiatric disorders. The program provides a one-year continuum of care that includes long and short-term residential, halfway house, intensive outpatient and outpatient services. Interim House’s residential program provides 26 beds. We are located in the West Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia. The program is two blocks from the R8 Chestnut Hill West (Upsal Stop) Regional Rail.

Approximately 85% of the women are referred from the criminal justice system and many suffer from trauma related disorders. In addition, over 90% of the women whom attend IOP/OP at Interim House have completed three- six months of residential treatment at Interim House.

Interim House is a subsidiary corporation of the Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC). PHMC is a non-profit public health organization that conducts research and evaluates programs, provides management and technical assistance services for other non-profits, and provides specialized direct services in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Must commit to working 3-4 week-day holidays per year rotated with other LPN’s
  • Administer medication, including suboxone and vivitrol
  • Adhere to controlled substance policy
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessment, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive to restorative of life and well-being.
  • Maintain medical records for clients.
  • Follow up on health problems and health assessments under direction of RN Nurse Manager
  • Perform Covid-19 screenings
  • Ability to provide nursing care to participants whom test positive for Covid-19 and are in quarantine at Interim House (i.e., take vitals, administer medication, etc.)
  • Maintain standard precautions among staff and residents.
  • Other duties as assigned by RN Nurse Manager or Program Director.

Competencies:

  • Competent in Medication Administration, reading and interpreting critical lab values, perform UDS, and complete Nursing Assessments
  • Understand and apply setting-specific policies and procedures for handling crisis or dangerous situations, including safety measures for clients and staff.
  • Ability to provide an emotionally safe environment; to deescalate conflicts, validate client feelings and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to be patient, kind and understanding of client needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited certification program for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Minimum one year of experience in a behavioral health care setting
  • Up to date Child Abuse, Criminal Record and FBI clearance
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience in working with diverse populations and knowledge of diverse cultural needs.
  • Basic understanding of medical and psychosocial causes relevant to chemical dependent persons.
  • Ability to work with and educate non-medical staff.
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and the recovery process.
