The Public Health Nurse Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to a team of the Mabel Morris (MM) Family Home Visit Program and its Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum. The Supervisor assures implementation of PAT in accordance with the national PAT standards and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) home visitation standards, policies, procedures and contract requirements. The requirements include data reports, yearly evaluations, and federal evaluations.
The Supervisor promotes positive parenting behaviors, healthy children and parent/family well-being. They utilize reflective practice, motivational interviewing, and adult learning principles for MM-PAT staff and colleagues. Advanced skills in mandated documentation and database systems are essential components of the position. The Supervisor plans and oversees the monthly parent/child events (Group Connections). These learning events support child development, family engagement and retention. The Supervisor is responsible for a half-time caseload of MM-PAT families.
The Supervisor works with senior staff to build and model a strengths-based nurse-and client-centered culture. The Supervisor is a spokesperson and advocate for public health, nursing and preventive early childhood initiatives that support family and community well-being.
