Reporting to the Director of the school, the role of the Teacher is to conduct an education program for students in the teacher’s area of expertise; to plan and participate in the development of educational programs and policies of The Mill Creek School. Will work as a team member in consonance with the general approach of the Mill Creek School.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for teaching four to six class sessions per day, 20 hours per week. Must have thorough knowledge of content and pedagogy skills needed for academic subjects taught. Class schedule may be subject to change during virtual learning.
  • Participates as a team member in all planning conferences which relate to students; participates in on going in service and staff development programs.
  • Responsible for lesson planning, grade keeping, quarterly evaluations, mid-quarter reports and student alert notices; communicates with families, sending school districts, and other agencies to review progress.
  • Maintains student files and records.
  • Displays appropriate professional judgement in all interactions with students, their families, co-workers, other professionals.
  • Functions well within the framework of a team; seeks and is responsive to supervision.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or requested.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Must be able to access internet for remote learning. Must be versed in Google Suite.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in teaching elementary and/or secondary subject areas. Special education experience preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of developmental issues of adolescence and demonstrate skills necessary for working with adolescents classified as Emotionally Disturbed and/or Learning Disabled.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in area of expertise for Teacher I; Master’s degree in area of expertise for Teacher II. State certification or Emergency certification eligible.

Salary:

  • Commensurate with education and experience.
