Provide services to assigned youth in Turning Points for Children’s Family Finding program.  After receiving all necessary initial and ongoing training in Family Finding, will interview each youth referred, utilizing solution-focused questioning and other interview techniques; will be responsible for all family finding efforts, including mobility mapping, family engagement, and tracing tools; will also be responsible for overseeing the well-being of all youth, ensuring that the youth is connected with their family and significant individuals when found and coordinating the engagement of identified supports with the assigned main social work throughout the case to ensure engagement and building of potential relationships for identified youth goal. Reports to Family Finding Program Supervisor.


  • Provide Family Finding services maintain strict fidelity to the program model.
  • Maintain a caseload minimum of eleven cases, maximum of fifteen cases, at any one time assigned by supervisor or Program Director.
  • Maintain case records and provide documentation within mandated timeframes, as outlined by DHS/CUA performance standards.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with DHS/CUA staff, advocates, attorneys, and others as indicated to ensure coordinated service delivery including monthly presence at assigned CUA and quarterly presentation at assigned CUA.
  • Participate in Service and Professional Development activities to ensure quality service delivery; including mandatory DHS and Family Finding training and maintain 20 hours of training per year.
  • Participate in weekly supervisory meetings (formal and informal) to discuss individual case status including goal accomplishment and problems, ongoing development of social work skills and caseload management.
  • Participate in/facilitate monthly staff meetings for the purpose of program evaluation, delivery of social work services, problem solving, professional development, and building teamwork.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement process and training activities.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in organizational operations and individual professional conduct.


  • Social work skills, focusing on the development of a helping lifelong relationship.
  • Knowledge of family systems theory and family support systems.
  • Knowledge of social media and other online systems for searching and engagement of potential family supports.
  • Knowledge of human development with a focus on children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of child welfare services.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of public speaking and presentation.

  • Some experience in child welfare with demonstrated skills in engaging youth and families in a helping process.
  • Knowledge of human development with a focus on children and adolescents and family system theory.
  • Excellent knowledge base of community resources.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and listening skills.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer, including Word, Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Criminal History Check, and FBI Clearance.

Education Requirement:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in from and accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field.

  • Grade 13

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

  • This position is classified as salaried non-exempt in accordance to FLSA standards.
