The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), Division of Disease Control (DDC) is tasked with the operation and maintenance of PhilaVax, the Immunization Information System (IIS) for the City of Philadelphia. PhilaVax’s primary mission is to collect and maintain immunization records for the City of Philadelphia. Information collected by PhilaVax is utilized by providers within the City and by partner programs within PDPH. The DDC uses IIS data to help prepare for public health emergencies and provide education to the community on how to stay safe and healthy.
The assistant interoperability coordinator will oversee IIS data reporting and data connections. Their primary responsibility will be to lead, oversee, and complete setting up clinics to report to the IIS. Additional special projects will be assigned to this position as needed for the IIS and Immunization program. A qualified candidate must be a flexible, extremely self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Clear and concise communication with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally is essential.
Responsibilities:
IIS enrollment work
Manage reporting and interface connections
Work with IIS vendor, and IIS Interoperability team to develop pilot PowerBi reports and dashboards
Work with partner programs, Interoperability Coordinator and Deputy IIS Manager to develop tracking of immunization data
Work with Interoperability team to improve refusal reporting to IIS
Work with IIS Interoperability team and IIS Lead Developer to create automated patient deduplication and vaccine consolidation processes
Work with Interoperability Coordinator and IIS Deputy Manager to develop a reporting tracking tool
Other duties as required
Required Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Able to work independently or as part of a team
Demonstrated knowledge of SQL
Must have working understanding of IT systems and general interoperability
Able to plan, execute, and complete projects within a limited timeframe and budget
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health, health informatics, or IIS related fields.
Minimum 1 year of experience working with relational databases
Minimum 1 year of experience coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders
Education Requirement:
This position requires a minimum, a bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in Public Health preferred. Experience in Health Informatics, Epidemiology, or Informatics with an emphasis on clinical data considered.
Required Qualifications:
Must have valid driver’s license
Must have familiarity with EHR or EHR related products
Must be authorized to work legally in the U.S.
Must be available to work occasional weekends or after hours
Must be able to travel within the United States
Must be able to life 25lbs
Willing to help in public health emergency
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with PowerBi
Knowledge of ONC and CDC Standards
Experience with interoperability
Familiarity with ACIP recommended immunization schedules
Experience with health IT
Familiarity with the American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA)
Familiarity with IT systems and hardware
Salary:
49k plus benefits, commensurate with education and experience.
