Job Description

This is a full-time position in the Division of Disease Control, Tuberculosis Control Program (TBC). This position reports to the Program Administrator. TBC is responsible for the surveillance, investigation, prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis (TB) in the City of Philadelphia. This position works with all the different teams of TBC to coordinate patient-related surveillance and location activities, patient compliance with treatment, and advocacy issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Field staff during contact investigations to ensure that all location information is current
  • Assist Field staff to ensure that contacts are located and evaluated
  • Ensure that ordered treatment is started on time
  • Triage patients and contacts to elicit barriers that will interfere with completion of evaluation and treatment
  • Address barriers identified that may interfere with patient contact, evaluation and treatment compliance
  • Provide patients and contacts with tools and referrals to help deal with their barriers
  • Assist in tracking and locating non-compliant patients and contacts
  • Start potential disciplinary processes for non-compliant patients and contacts according to TBC policy
  • Initiate Health Department Order and Court Order processes according to TBC policy
  • Attend court hearings for Court Orders
  • Assist the Surveillance team with locating EDN and Immigrants
  • Attend Cohort Reviews and TBC meetings
  • Collaborate with other DDC and health-related programs
  • Perform related duties as required

Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of infectious disease transmission risks, contact investigation and infectious disease control. This position requires broad thinking, problem-solving abilities, and data management skills. Candidate should be fluent in English, have excellent communication and writing skills. Be organized, pay attention to detail and be able to organize and present information effectively. Candidate should have strong research and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of case management is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially excel, access) is required. Flexibility and professionalism are highly valued attributes.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with patients, in the healthcare field.

Education Requirement:

  • Candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, Health Sciences or in other related fields.

Salary:

  • $48,000 - $52,000. Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications.
