Residential Therapist is a critical member of WestHaven’s Clinical leadership who is responsible for coaching a team that includes residential staff and residents to ensure the provision of recovery-oriented services. Therapist must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet the needs of the program. (Shift will be Tuesday thru Saturday and include some evening and holiday coverage).
Responsibilities:
- Work in partnership with the Program Director, Psychiatrist, and Nursing Staff to oversee implementation of a recovery transformation initiative that will instill a more supportive and recovery-oriented clinical philosophy and approach at WestHaven.
- Provide individual and group therapy focused on psychiatric rehabilitation, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to promote optimal levels of functioning and the development of recovery skills.
- Ensure that residential staff is effectively implementing WestHaven’s psychiatric rehabilitation, recovery-oriented and Sanctuary based clinical philosophy and approach.
- Work with residential staff to ensure services and documentation meets appropriate regulatory standards and incorporates a recovery-oriented approach.
- Communicate with residents and families regarding recovery progress in compliance with the confidentiality policy.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop a schedule of activities that addresses the day, evening and weekend hours.
- Escort groups of participants or individuals off the floor as necessary and appropriate to build skills and promote independent functioning.
- Participate in case conferences and team recovery planning along with conducting completion of initial and annual biopsychosocials.
- Receive and use regular clinical supervision.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and assist with data collection, aggregation and analysis as assigned.
- Assist with the admission, discharge and transfer of participants as necessary and appropriate.
- Maintain safety and hygienic standards within the facility under the direction of the nurse on duty.

- Have an understanding of a strengths-based, recovery oriented approach
Experience:
- Minimum three years’ experience in a related position and setting.
- At least three years of experience in providing individual and group therapy to adults with co-occurring behavior health disorders is required
- Proficiency in DSM-IV R diagnostic nomenclature
- Proficiency in multi-modal and cognitive-behavioral treatment models, including case conceptualizations, treatment planning, and implementation
- Knowledge of chemical dependency and other addictions and appropriate treatment modalities a plus
Education Requirement:
- Master's degree in counseling or social work
- Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania is required
