  • Train and oversee The Residential Department to have its culture be more clinically based. The goal will be to ensure that the clinical interventions the participants receive in therapy are transferred over to residential (MHT staff) and followed up on daily when not in therapy.
  • Ensure staff are trained to document thorough interventions daily, especially weekends, nights, and Holidays when there are not regular clinical services.
  • Work with staff to get them to find ways to say “yes” to participants (strengths based culture).
  • Train staff to de-escalate situations using verbal interventions.
  • Work with Residential Coordinator to ensure someone is covering nights/weekends to provide increased Residential Coverage.
  • On call every weeknight evening and weekend rotation.
  • Establish and oversee a Life skills curriculum for the participants.
  • Help create a positive culture for the kids and staff.
  • Ensure staff are documenting Head Counts every 15 minutes.
  • Make sure HCSIS and Incident Reports are completed and sent in the required time frames.
  • Hire, train, and supervise all Mental Health Technicians and Residential Supervisors Orient new MHTs with assistance of Residential Coordinator and Supervisors.
  • Coordinate weekly and monthly MHT schedule to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with staffing ratios prescribed by relevant regulatory bodies, including the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP).
  • Develop and update policies and procedures for Mental Health Tech Manual and ensure that all MHT's are familiar with the contents of the manual.
  • Ensure consistent attendance of treatment team by all MHT's and Residential Supervisors.
  • Supervise Mental Health Techs in monitoring residents. Ensure that Mental Health
  • Techs document activities appropriately and uphold the Bridge program philosophy in their approach to participants & staff interactions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the daily participant schedule and ensure that it includes an appropriate range of therapeutic, skill building, and educational services; ensure that MHT's implement the specific activities to which they are assigned using relevant curriculum and manuals (including recovery and life skills groups)
  • Ensure staff compliance with training requirements by monitoring staff adherence to training guidelines; providing periodic in-service education; and selecting appropriate staff to attend outside educational seminars and training sessions.
  • Implement new regulations and administrative procedures and disseminate information about them as required by all funding & regulatory sources.
  • Maintain off-hours supervision of MHT's through on-call contact. Maintain flexible schedule to provide in-house supervision for all three Mental Health Tech shifts.
  • Plan and implement participant-oriented special events/recreational activities/recovery programming.
  • Mediate intra-staff and participant problems.
  • Ensure that services are provided within appropriate budgetary limits.
  • Assist in maintaining census.
  • Assist in new program development.
  • Work closely with the Clinical and Case Management Departments so all 3 are communicating the same message to the participants.
  • Conduct at least 6 in-service trainings per year
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors degree, but Masters degree in human services field preferred and prior therapist REALLY preferred;
  • And Minimum of 2 years experience in a residential setting/drug and alcohol program or mental health facility.
  • Experience working with adolescents.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health treatment, including working with dually-diagnosed adolescents.
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Computer literate
