Job Description

The Housekeeper is responsible to perform ongoing facility upkeep of the building and grounds ensuring the building/grounds are safe, clean, sanitary, pleasant, orderly and compliant with governmental standard and codes, contractual obligations, and expectations of site leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleans classrooms, hallways, lobbies, kitchen, cafeteria, lounges, restrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, est.'s necessary and determined.
  • Disposes trash, waste, and other disposable materials. Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal areas daily
  • Dusts furniture, light fixtures, window sills, etc. daily. Vacuums daily.
  • Dusts Wet mops floors in all areas,   bathrooms, corridor, cafeteria, kitchen, classrooms, lobby and offices etc. as necessary and determined. .
  • Cleans sinks, mirrors, toilets.
  • Polishes furniture and equipment.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Ensure students do not have access.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Maintains facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings. Promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors.
  • Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc.
  • Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of potentially infectious materials.
  • Handles various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
  • Checks and cleans unused or vacant rooms to keep fresh.
  • Cleans all air vents as necessary and determined..
  • Checks entire area for spills, water, etc. periodically, especially in bathrooms and cafeteria. Promptly cleans.
  • Repairs or promptly reports any needed repairs to supervisor (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, busted or broken furniture etc.
  • Moves cabinets, furniture, and equipment to clean areas.
  • Removes stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions. Sweeps walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other seasonal outdoor tasks
  • Washes interior windows as scheduled.
  • Completely strips and may recoats all floor areas when necessary and as scheduled.
  • Uses safety precautions in all housekeeping work.
  • Follows ongoing cleaning schedules, and special cleaning instructions.

Physical demands/work environment:

  • Exposed to indoor and outdoor working environment and seasonal weather conditions which can be extreme.
  • Exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration.
  • May work in small cramped spaces perform tasks in high places such as on a roof or tall ladder or stand for long periods at a time.
  • May need to carry, lift or move heavy objects and equipment; operate machinery or other equipment.
  • Will need to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms or legs.

  • Prepares and delivers reports to outside agencies as appropriate; ensures reports are maintained in an accessible manner.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years housekeeping experience.

Education Requirement:

  • High School diploma/GED. Meet all regulatory agency requirements and comply with all Fairwold policies regarding child abuse, criminal, medical, and other clearances.

Salary:

  • Commensurate with education and experience.
