The Research & Evaluation Group at Public Health Management Corporation (R&E Group) is seeking a Full-Time Interviewer to conduct survey data collection and reporting activities, while fostering strong working relationships between the project team and participants. R&E Group conducts applied research and evaluation, including work on program efficacy, intervention effectiveness, and needs assessments. The Interviewer will be part of the research team evaluating the effectiveness of a group-level program for 14-19 year old Black and African American adolescents. The Interviewer will report to the study’s Evaluation Director. Interviewer responsibilities include, but are not limited to: screening participants for study eligibility; obtaining informed consent; tracking and maintaining contact with study participants ; scheduling and administering follow-up interviews; database maintenance; entering data into the funder’s web-based portal; data cleaning; and data reporting. All activities will be conducted remotely using online and phone-based methods for an indefinite period of time due to COVID-19. The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills and some knowledge of data collection and data management. Though this position will be remote for the foreseeable future, this position requires a willingness to work at the PHMC offices and to travel to community partner sites if needed. Experience with interviewing or outreach is required, and experience working with adolescent and young adult populations, including the study population of 14-19 year old Black and African American adolescents, is preferred. Experience managing and analyzing data is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen potential study participants for eligibility.
  • Obtain informed consent for the research study from program participants.
  • Administer structured interviews with study participants.
  • Collect and maintain database of participant contact information in order to conduct follow-up interviews.
  • Locate and complete follow-up assessments with all study participants.
  • Coordinate all data collection assessments, including follow-ups, via direct communication with participants.
  • Work closely with the evaluation program teams to plan and modify data collection procedures.
  • Assist with occasional observations of online program sessions on Zoom platform.
  • Enter data into the funder’s web-based portal as required.
  • Track, document, and reconcile participant incentives.
  • Assist with data cleaning.
  • Attend and participate in all required trainings and meetings.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

Experience:

The following experience is required:

  • Interviewing and/or outreach experience.
  • At least some experience and comfort using social media (e.g. Facebook, Instragram) and meeting software such as Zoom.

The following experience is preferred but not required (willingness to be trained on these is required):

  • Community-based health research or program evaluation
  • Data entry and management, using Excel, SPSS, and/or online survey tools (e.g., SurveyGizmo)
  • Work with adolescent or young adult populations, including Black and African American adolescents

Education Requirement:

  • High school degree required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Salary:

  • Salary is commensurate with experience; starting salaries for Interviewers range from the lower to mid-30s.
