Job Description

The Data Manager, Special Projects is responsible for supporting multiple projects within the Surveillance Unit of AIDS Activities Coordinating Office (AACO). The Data Manager, Special Projects is responsible for the development and management of data collected through the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) and a supplemental project Demonstrating Expanded Interventional Surveillance (DExIS), ensuring that both projects meet or exceed data quality outcome standards per CDC requirements. This full-time position is in the Philadelphia Department of Public Health AIDS Activities Coordinating Office, HIV/AIDS Surveillance Unit. The position will report to the Lead Epidemiologist.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the maintenance, cleaning, and security of data related to the MMP and the DExIS Projects.
  • Import data collected through project activities into the Enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS).
  • Manage disparate data files, creating and updating data management procedures and documenting changes as completed.
  • Running and generating SAS code for data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Generating internal weekly and other requested reports to track completion of project deliverables and monitor progress towards outcome standards.
  • Prepare and transmit locally collected data including recruitment tracking, interview, and medical record abstraction data to the CDC as required.
  • Participate in monthly MMP Data Management and Analysis conference calls and attend required trainings provided by the CDC.
  • Participate in internal AACO meetings as required and initiated by Lead Epidemiologist and Project Coordinators.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and graphic output used for fact sheets, publications, annual reports, and presentations.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability with SAS and understanding of data management procedures is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive patient information by complying with established data security protocols.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Education Requirement:

  • MPH preferred.
  • At minimum, completion of Bachelor's degree, preferably in public health, statistics, computer science, or another health science with experience described above.

Salary:

  • $48,000 plus benefits
