Job Description

The Credentialing Specialist provides full support for the credentialing activities of all PHMC and affiliate employees. The specialist will work closely with a third party administrator to process the initial credentialing and re-credentialing applications, in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements.


  • Review credentialing files, obtain all primary source verifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of the employee files in accordance to company and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of employee files for regulator and internal audits
  • Assist with filing and Data Entry

  • Must have good written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, excellent time-management skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must possess sound judgment, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapts to changes, and manages multiple priorities 


  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies considered a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to interact with various internal and external stakeholders (client, state agencies, providers, etc.)
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required


  • Post High school education preferred.  


  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting or credentialing agency.

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

  • This position is classified as salaried non-exempt in accordance to FLSA standards.
